On Fridays, Greenfield youth now have a place to spend time with friends and learn about the Bible after school.

The Good New Club started at the Greenfield Oak Avenue Elementary School on Jan. 22, with 16 students eager to learn. The Club is for students ages five to 12.

It all started with a presentation to the Greenfield Prevention and Health Coalition. That day got several people talking of ways to make the Good News Club a reality in Greenfield, and with a meeting with the South County Ministers Alliance, the ball was rolling.

Pastor Andrew Salinas of El Shaddai Church was excited about the Club and brought Brother Ian of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) to meet his wife Diane.

“Ian was all for starting it in Greenfield,” said Diane Salinas. “His questions to us were: How can we start? When can we start? And who is going to run it?”
