At the conclusion of the Jan. 26 Greenfield City Council meeting, a special meeting of the City of Greenfield Redevelopment Agency was called to order.
The meeting was for a vote to approve a letter of intent and the adoption of a resolution for the Redevelopment Agency to show support for housing the new South Monterey County Courthouse.
The resolution passed with a unanimous vote and all members of the City Counsel present.
The South Monterey County Courthouse is, at this time, housed in King City. They are looking into moving to a new office building, or even to a new city.
King City is trying to keep it in their city but Greenfield and other South County cities are looking to entice the county to move away from King City.
“Let's just hope for the best,” said Greenfield City Manager Roger Wong. “This does not commit us to anything if we are not chosen. But it gives the County a level of insurance they need to run with it.”
The City of Greenfield believes it has many things to offer the County as the new base for the Courthouse. One of the many, being the City of Greenfield’s central location in South County.
