Last Thursday, the City of Greenfield mailed out a box that might be worth $10 million dollars.
The box contained the plans and applications for grant money the City may qualify for from Proposition 84, a statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization program.
The project started in October. The City is trying for two grants of up to $5 million dollars each. They will be used in the planning and building of two new parks in the City of Greenfield.
Community Development Director Brent Slama has been working with the committees for the Walnut Avenue Park Project and Apple Avenue Park Project and City staff to plan the parks.
The two committees held several meetings, working to draw locals in to help design a park for the people of Greenfield. The committees and locals planed all aspects of the parks, from where trees will be planted to benches, play-fields for soccer and football and play equipment; even where the parking will be.
