Aztec athletes awarded at spring banquet

SOLEDAD - The Soledad High School spring sports awards banquet was held on Tuesday evening May 29, in the Aztec gymnasium. Awards for all spring sports were awarded by each individual coach from boys and girls swim teams, JV. and varsity track teams, JV and varsity baseball teams and JV and varsity softball
teams.
Athletic Director Steve Terry said, "2012 was the most productive year for our student athletes in the history of Soledad High School."
Varsity Baseball Coach Damian Ryan awarded Adrian Banuelos as MVP, best offensive player went to Ivan Sanchez, best defensive player was Jesse Perez and the Aztec winner was Robert Ramirez.
Varsity Track awards were presented by Coach Michael Ramirez. Adrian Valdez reeled in the MVP award, while Conrado Preciado received the top track award, and Francisco Martinez the Aztec award. For the girls, Jazmin Zirab got the MVP, Luzz Bugarin got top track, and Leesa Lopez received the Aztec award.
Softball Coach Samantha Berrera handed out awards for varsity softball with her MVP being Carissa Sanchez, Brianna Solis being best offensive player, Felicia Villarruel as best defensive player, and Victoria Newton received the Aztec award.
Swimming Coach Jess Hogg gave the girls MVP award to Hope Lewis, the champion award to Katelyn Clegg, rising star award to Lillian Gray and the Aztec award went to Jocelyn Hurtado. The boys swim team awards were: Fernando Ansaldo-Sanchez getting the MVP award, Roberto Torres getting the champion award, Grant Clegg got rising star award, and Jack Traina brought home the Aztec award.
